Question 1.
(a) Why is it easy for burglars to break into stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area?
(b) What is the Geylang East Central Merchants' Association going to do about the break-ins?
a) It was easy for the burglars to break into stalls as the tops of the stalls were opened. That made it easy for the burglars to break in that two markets in the Kallang area. They get upon the pipes or the metal bars to climb up to the stall.
(b) The Geylang East Central Merchants' Association chairman,Mr Tan Seng Peng had suggested to meet the National Environment Agency also known as the NEA and the town councils to search forfurther improving security by changing the stalls layout and design. He also wanted to vary the stall arrangement.
Q2) What do you think should be done to tighten the security of the markets?
What do you think of the burglars who brazenly break into the stalls?
The stall vendors should put close circuit camera somewhere near the stalls to track down the burglars who broke into the stalls. With that, when a break-in happens, it will be easy for them to catch the burglars. They just have nothing else to do and should be desperate of money. They can do other things like finding a job to earn money instead of stealing from other people's stall.
